World Tourism Day

!Happy World Tourism Day!
What’s the most-engaging travel and tourism content you can create for your brand? #WTD23

It’s been a tumultuous couple of years for the travel industry and no mistake. The whole landscape of travel and how we explore the world is changing, and it has to. But I’ve noticed from some of my clients that travel is creeping back onto the agenda.

I’ve been writing in this industry for over five years, and I’ve written and translated content for:

-    Ski companies

-    Cycling package-holiday providers

-    Cruise companies

-    Destination-specific content for online booking platforms and websites

-    Hotel-specific content for booking platforms and travel agents

And many of those I still write and translate for today.

So, what kind of content seems to really work for the companies I work with:

- Destinations by month or season, e.g. The 5 Best Spring City Breaks or The Three Best Places to Travel in June
- Festival content, e.g. Make It A Week: Glastonbury & Beyond or Game, Set & Long Weekend: Exploring Wimbledon
- Suggested tours between destinations or accommodation your company offers, e.g. Island Hopping in the Cyclades or Road Trip Through Galicia

- Deep dives into one particular accommodation, e.g. ‘What A Weekend Glamping at X Looks Like’

- Activities-focussed holidays, e.g. Cycling Holidays in Mallorca or Walking Getaways on Hydra or Yoga Retreats in Thailand – these are really gaining in popularity.

- Alternative ways to explore a destination, e.g. Explore Spain by Train or See Scotland Without a Car or Train-Able Day Trips from [Insert City Here]

These are the sorts of articles I’ve been requested a lot recently, and they seem to be effective for my clients. Of course, I’ve got lots of Christmas travel content lined up too.

I’d love to see more companies creating (or requesting) content that’s a little more surprising too…

I recently read an article on having a Friendmoon instead of a Babymoon, which I thought was fun. You could also create content for mixed stag-and-hen dos or perhaps destinations for seeing autumn colour, or spooky spots for a Halloween day out. There’s a lot of world out there to write about!

What travel content have you been creating lately? Looking to liven up your travel blog, Instagram or website? Get in touch! I can definitely help with that.
