German and Dutch Translation & Transcreation | Blossoming new markets
London calling. Are you ready?
Of course, an English-speaking audience is much bigger than London – it reaches far beyond the bounds of our little isle, even. Nonetheless, to speak to a UK audience, you need to sound like you know your way around here. You’ll need a skilled, crafty native speaker by your side, ready to turn your German or Dutch content into killer English copy.
How do I work?
You get in touch to tell me about your translation needs and what it is that you do. I’ll let you know if we’re a good fit and if I have experience and specialist knowledge in your industry.
You send me your file for translation and fill out a questionnaire so I can get to know your brand voice.
I put the kettle on… Actually, I get to know your brand and have a thorough read of your text for translation before I get to work.
Eventually, after translation, much time editing and proof-reading, I send the copy back to you for checking.
You’re welcome to get in touch afterwards with tweaks, queries and amends – there’s always time to change your mind about how you want to say things before you hit ‘publish’.
Transcreation? Sounds a bit exotic…
Actually, I think transcreation is the most natural thing out there. Transcreation is an industry term for simply using your creativity as you translate. I don’t change the meaning and I stick closely to your brand identity – it’s more about doing what only a human can.
Transcreation is where my skillsets meet – creative copywriting and idea generation blend seamlessly with my in-depth, linguistic expertise. For me, almost all translation should be transcreation. Words don’t have a 1:1 correlation; words are loaded and expressive. They’re art. Getting a good translation is not about simply clicking a button and seeing some words appear in another language. It’s about conveying your why, your sense of self, to a whole new audience.
Industries I work with
I have experience in a wild and wonderful jungle of industries. For example…
Scientific research, sustainability research and certification, conservation
Energy, energy transition & green energy, environmental permits, automotive
Sustainable fashion, travel, eco-tourism
HR & recruiting
Content creation | Unique web copy that speaks to people
There are a lot of brands out there claiming to do what you do, but none of them are quite like yours. Wherever you show up – online or in print – you need to be recognised. That might be a poster on the Tube, a blog post or email, or even a 404 message or an Instagram caption – none of it is throwaway.
Need a one-time website refresh or SEO-optimised category descriptions to set up your ecommerce platform? Perhaps it’s just a single press release or email campaign, or you need copy for your advertising campaign? Whatever your copy needs, I’d love to help.
Price: How long is a piece of string? Once I know the details of your project and the time commitment, I’ll be able to confirm the price. On the other hand, you might prefer a package deal (all-inclusive, who wouldn’t?)
Packages
Quarterly or monthly copy
Like to get your to-do list ticked off? There’s nothing better if you ask me. With this package you can book regular time slots – once a month or once a quarter – where I’ll dedicate myself entirely to your copy.
This is the perfect package if…
You need regular blog content or emails, for example. If you post one blog per week or per month or you run a regular seasonal email campaign, you can get all the copy for the next month or quarter nailed down. Perhaps you launch a fresh collection every spring and autumn – imagine if you had your content all neatly stacked up weeks in advance? The dream.
Tip: This has worked well for travel content or Christmas campaigns – get 12 blogs delivered in one go ahead of the season.
What’s included?
Before:
A specific day, days or a week of my time blocked out for your content. No other clients, just me, busy as a bee.
A video or phone call to go over the content that’s required ahead of time.
During:
I’m effectively your in-house copywriter during this time, so you’re welcome to email or call any time to discuss specifics.
A full round of edits on articles you’d like tweaking.
After:
Your specified number of blogs or emails (and a little post-collaboration questionnaire in case you’d like to tell me how pleased you are with my work).
We can rebook for the next slot.

Quick content prune
What is pruning?
Other people might it call a website copy ‘audit’. I’ll check (some of) your English webpages, scanning for basic errors and inconsistencies, giving you style tips and providing points for tone of voice improvement.
How will it help you?
Your website is your business card. There’s nothing more off-putting than a site that looks fabulously designed but is riddled with spelling and grammar errors. Grammar isn’t everyone’s idea of fun – but it is mine – and correct grammar and spelling say a lot about your business.
If you want to stand out from the crowd, you’ll need a tone of voice that speaks to people. Your copy should say something about you and your business; it should be bursting with personality. That’s not easy to achieve overnight, but little tweaks here and there can elevate your existing copy out of the shade and into the sunshine.
What’s included?
What exactly do you get?
I check three to five of your live (or pre-launch) website pages.
I’ll weed out: spelling errors, grammar errors, sense issues and redundancies, superfluous words (waffle) , and inconsistencies in terminology, content or tone of voice.
I’ll point out: places where you could inject more personality, style or oomph and spruce up your tone of voice.
I’ll provide a video recording with audio, walking you through the changes, so you can polish up, prune and fix your site to sound enticing for your audience.
Why do you want a prune?
You’re about to launch, re-launch or go on a marketing offensive to win new customers but you can’t afford a copywriter to write your entire site for you. (Although, if you can – Hi, I’m here to help!)
You’ve written your site in English and it isn’t your first language, but you can’t afford or don’t want a full translation.
You’ve had your website translated and you want a second pair of eyes to sweep over it.
Your website and/or copy is old and you’re looking for a spring clean, without a total re-do.
The technicalities:
How long will it take? After I book you in, I am usually able to turn this around in a week or less. (Top tip: booking in advance will ensure I definitely have time to give you a speedy turnaround.)
How much will it cost? At £150, this is significantly cheaper than getting your whole website written or re-written from scratch – perfect for small businesses on a budget.
Can you review more pages? Depending on the length of your webpages, I’ll review either three or five of them. You can always ask to add more pages onto the package.
